Brand Direction &
Art Direction

The "Outrun 89" synthwave music festival is an annual event that celebrates the vibrant and nostalgic sounds of the 1980s. As the art director for the festival, my role was to provide creative direction and ensure a visually captivating and immersive experience for attendees. This case study explores the creative strategies, design elements, and overall impact of my work on the festival's success.

The primary objective of my creative direction was to transport attendees back to the nostalgic era of the 1980s, evoking a sense of awe and excitement while maintaining a modern aesthetic. I aimed to create a cohesive visual identity that would engage the audience, reflect the essence of synthwave music, and contribute to a memorable festival experience.

Visual Identity and Branding: Designed a unique and recognizable logo that combined retro elements with a modern twist, capturing the essence of the synthwave genre. Developed a cohesive color palette inspired by neon lights, vibrant sunsets, and iconic visuals from the 1980s. Created a typography system that reflected the bold and futuristic style of the era.

Marketing Collateral: Designed visually striking posters, flyers, and banners to promote the festival across various channels, capturing the attention of the target audience. Created engaging social media graphics and animations to build anticipation and generate buzz leading up to the event. Developed a consistent visual language for all marketing collateral to establish brand recognition and create a sense of excitement.

The visually captivating marketing collateral and strong brand presence attracted a larger audience, resulting in increased ticket sales compared to previous years. Positive word-of-mouth and social media buzz generated by the festival's unique visual identity contributed to the growing popularity of "Outrun 89."

The immersive stage design and overall visual experience created a nostalgic and engaging atmosphere, amplifying the emotional connection between the audience and the music. Attendees expressed a strong sense of satisfaction with the festival's visual aesthetics, resulting in positive feedback and reviews.

The festival's unique visual identity and cohesive branding positioned "Outrun 89" as a distinctive event in the synthwave music scene. The design elements and creative direction garnered recognition from industry professionals, further establishing the festival as a reputable brand.
